Sheri Y. Dean
Republican Candidate for the 309th Family Judicial District Court

I was born in Tyler, Texas, into a family of dedicated Republicans. My grandfather once ran for the Senate as a Republican and I grew up with traditional conservative values that can be seen in the way I live my life.  My parents block walked for him in Minnesota.  My father was named Herbert Calvin after Herbert Hoover and Calvin Coolidge.

I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas and made the Dean’s list while in school. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart, Lance, for thirty-five years, and the union has produced three wonderful sons.

At the age of thirty-four, while raising my three sons and working, I started law school.   While going to school, raising a family, and working, I was elected as President of the Women’s Legal Forum at South Texas College of Law.  I was also honored when I was invited to join Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity, an honors organization for student excellence.

My dedication and hard work allowed me to finish Law School in two and a half years.  Over seventeen years later, I still combine operating my own successful family law practice, while enjoying my family and marriage.

I believe that my combination of hard work and commitment as a Family Attorney has gained me the respect of Harris County Judges who have asked me to act as a Visiting Associate Judge.  I have received numerous court appointments by the family law judges to represent the best interests of children who were involved in contentious divorce cases.

I have continued to gain additional professional knowledge by attending over seventeen Family Law Seminars and the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program at the University of Texas at Austin.   I have also attended the University of Houston’s A. A. White Dispute Resolution Center so that I could become a qualified family law mediator.

As a lifelong Republican, I have been a member of many Republican groups including the Harris County Republican Leadership Council, the Republican National Committee, Daughters of Liberty, Texas Tea Party RWC, Bay Area Republican Women, Ronald Regan RWC, Kingwood RWC, and many other worthwhile organizations too numerous to name here although equally as important. I also have served my community by serving as a volunteer for the Interfaith Caring Ministries, The Friends of Bay Area Turning Point Crisis Center for Victims of Domestic Abuse, and Houston Volunteer Lawyers.  I have been a member of the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.  I worship and belong to Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

I have been blessed by a tremendous showing of support from the Republican Party, friends, family, and colleagues for many years.
